[PE-2]. INÉDITA.

Carta de Tolosa a Vergara de 25 de octubre de 1.751 con marca inédita a la fecha (65.jpg), que debe pasar a ser la nº 2.
El cuño “DTOLOSA” en dos líneas, la “D” incluye el brazo de la letra “E” para formar la preposición. Todo dentro de un rectángulo que diríamos tiene forma de campana, con un punto o asa arriba.

Además tenemos estas dos cartas dirigidas a la misma persona y que nos permiten establecer un pequeño periodo de uso hasta 1.752, siendo la última del 23 de noviembre (5.jpg).

PE-2. 1.766 a 1.772. Rarísima (RRR).
Tal como cataloga Tizón esta marca, solo debió conocer entre 4 y 12 ejemplares. Aquí presentamos 31 ejemplares con una primera carta fechada en Tolosa el 1 de marzo de 1.756 (Imagen 6, primer archivo) y la ultima de fecha 7 de abril de 1.776 (Imagen 18, ultimo), por lo que se amplía el periodo de uso en ambos sentidos, pasando a ser de 1.756 a 1.776.

Tenemos dos cartas enviadas de Tolosa a Beasain con un cuño inédito “VIZCAYA TOLOSA” en dos líneas y color negro.

La siguiente es una carta fechada en Motrico el 21/6/1778 sobre lo que parece una envuelta doblemente reutilizada que en un momento dado fue de Tolosa a Motrico, por lo que no podemos asegurar la fecha de la marca, aunque no sería de extrañar que realmente correspondiese a dicho año.

Así, catalogamos la nueva marca en 1776, siendo continuación de la anterior que ya hemos visto llega hasta dicho año y dejamos pendiente el alargar su uso hasta 1778 por no poder asegurarlo.

PE-3. 1784 a 1793.
En negro se referencia durante todos los años indicados, como rara (R).

En el hilo de Vizcaya del Ágora, Parbil ya adelantaba este cuño a 1781. viewtopic.php?t=22280

La primera que tenemos nosotros es una carta de Villafranca a Motrico fechada el 15 de noviembre de 1780 y que por tanto adelanta la fecha de uso en cuatro años.

En rojo solo se cataloga el año 1785 siendo rarísima (RRR).
Hemos encontrado la siguiente carta de Aya a Oñate fechada el 15 de junio de 1784 y que por tanto podría adelantar el uso de este cuño en un año, pero no nos convence la marca y pensamos que posiblemente sea de San Sebastián.
A ver si alguien nos puede ayudar y nos da su opinión (en cualquier caso, la dejare aquí).

Las siguientes son cartas de Villafranca a Tolosa. En Villafranca existe una PE-1 muy similar, pero no tenemos referencia para comprobarla y no vemos grandes diferencias para indicar que estas sean distintas marcas. Lo mantenemos aquí y a ver si alguien puede confirmarlas.

PE-6. 1810 a 1821. Muy escasa (ME).
La primera carta que tenemos es de 30 de agosto de 1809, lo que adelanta el uso del cuño en un año.
Está fechada en Astigarraga y aunque después, la siguiente fecha es bastante posterior (abril del siguiente año), esto se debe a que son muy pocas las cartas que tenemos en época de guerra.

Tizón cataloga esta marca hasta 1821. En el anterior listado hay unas 34 cartas de 1822 con representación de todos los meses (con dudas en marzo) y por ultimo tenemos claramente 3 cartas de 1823. Hemos marcado dos al principio del listado en rojo.
La más tardía que tenemos es la siguiente de Laurgain a Vitoria fechada el 6 de marzo de 1823, por lo que el periodo de uso debe ampliarse hasta dicho año.

PE-6. De 1810 a 1821. Muy escasa (ME). Cont.
Lo anterior corresponde todo a Badator, pero tenemos alguna carta más.

PARES
La siguiente carta está fechada el 7 de agosto, pero sin indicar año.
Todo el archivo es de 1809 a 1810, pero en la carta se hace referencia al asalto al Castillo de Montjuic del día 8 de julio. Este asalto se engloba dentro de los intentos franceses de capturar dicho castillo que se dieron desde el 3 al 8 de julio de 1809, por lo que gracias al texto se puede datar y por lo tanto afirmar que la marca se adelanta en un año a lo catalogado en PE y es de algunos días antes a la que hemos visto en Badator.

Carta y fragmento donde se hace referencia al asalto de las tropas francesas, “Nuestros Aliados”, toda vez que la misiva es de un afrancesado.

PE-7. 1823 a 1824. Muy rara (RR).
La ilustración de PE refleja esta marca con la primera “U” en forma de “V” y enmarcada en la mitad inferior. Realmente la “U” es normal y el marco inferior, en nuestra opinión, es algo circunstancial que se observa en muy pocas ocasiones.

La primera fecha que tenemos es el 18 de abril de 1823, pero al tratarse de un documento impreso, pudiera ser de algún día posterior, posiblemente del día 24 pues se hace referencia a cuando se recibió. En definitiva, la anterior marca PE-6 se puede catalogar hasta marzo de 1823 y está a partir de abril, por lo que la laguna que existía se reduce a prácticamente mes y medio.

PE-8. 1824 a 1839.
Con esta marca, tenemos ciertos problemas para definir el color de algunas cartas.
Adjuntaremos las cartas que tenemos y al final trataremos de hacer un resumen de lo que vemos.

En negro se cataloga desde 1824 a 1831 como muy escasa (ME).

Tenemos tres cartas de 1823, una en negro y dos en rojo que veremos después. La negra es del 29 de junio y las rojas del 13 y 14 de julio, es decir, las tres pertenecen a fechas muy cercanas.
La cuestión es que después no volvemos a tener este cuño hasta un año después, la primera de 21 de agosto de 1824 y en rojo. En negro, nosotros no la hemos visto en 1824, aunque se supone que Tizón si la vería.

Entre ambas fechas se utilizaba la PE-7 que tenemos documentada hasta el 13 de agosto de 1824, es decir, hasta solo 8 días antes de que reapareciera definitivamente la PE-8. Además, tenemos ejemplos de los días 27 y 30 de junio de 1823 con la PE-7, es decir, prácticamente los días anterior y posterior a esta que presentamos del día 29, única carta que hemos visto en dicho año en color negro.

Así, entendemos que se debe catalogar desde 1823, aunque después realizaremos más observaciones a la catalogación.

En rojo catalogada de1825 a 1839 como escasa (E).
Como nos pasaba con la marca en negro, tenemos en los siguientes archivos dos cartas en rojo de 1823. En este caso, presentamos la imagen de la carta del 14 de julio por ser más clara, fechada en Alzo y dirigida a Vitoria. Se debe catalogar desde dicho año.

Por la rareza, es de suponer que Tizón conocía entre 50 y 100 cartas en negro y entre 100 y 200 en rojo. Nosotros presentamos 306 en negro y 200 en rojo, aunque con las salvedades de donde tenemos dudas en el color o las que son imágenes en blanco y negro.

El resumen del reparto de colores por fechas a partir de 1824 es el siguiente, aunque en algún caso nos genera dudas el color por el uso de una tinta de escribir que, aunque diríamos que es negra, parece muy aguada o con restos de rojo.
- Del 21/8/1824 a 17/1/1825 tenemos 17 días en rojo y ninguno donde se use el negro.
- Del 22/1/1825 al 10/8/1825 tenemos 19 días en negro y 1 roja el día 17/4/1825, aunque pudiera ser que no hubiéramos asignado correctamente la fecha.
- Del 24/8/1825 al 7/9/1827 tenemos 81 días donde se usa el rojo y ninguna negra.
- Del 8/10/1827 al 7/7/1828 tenemos 49 días donde se usa el negro y ninguno el rojo.
- Del 11/7/1828 al 26/9/1828 tenemos representados 27 días, donde las primeras son rojas, pero después parecen pasar a negro, aunque aquí es donde tenemos más dudas con los colores.
- Del 6/10/1828 al 25/11/1831 tenemos 81 días representados con marcas en negro (aunque las cartas son 157) y 1 claramente roja el 4/3/1831, aunque de dicho día también la tenemos en negro.
- Del 6/1/1832 al 9/3/1832 tenemos 7 días en rojo y ninguno en negro.
- Del 14/3/1832 al 5/9/1832 tenemos 13 días con marcas que son negras, salvo en las últimas fechas donde tenemos dudas, si bien, pensamos que seguramente sean negras.
- Desde el 7/9/1832 tenemos 42 días con marcas solo en rojo, aunque con dudas en los primeros días. Aquí incluimos dos fechas que hemos sacado de la colección de José María Raya (2/1/1838 y 29/11/1838). El número de cartas en este periodo va disminuyendo paulatinamente y desde marzo de 1835 hasta diciembre de 1837 no tenemos ninguna carta y después solo tenemos tres cartas de 1838, contando las citadas de José María Raya. Esto seguramente tenga varias explicaciones, la principal, la salida de Tolosa de parte de los remitentes de los archivos que se han digitalizado, pero también a los problemas que existían con el correo debido a la guerra carlista y a que Tolosa fuera carlista desde 1835 hasta 1839 (ver algunas cartas de 1835 donde se comentan estos problemas).

Conclusiones:
En negro se debe catalogar desde 1823 hasta 1832, si bien, puede darse el caso de que no se utilizara este color en 1824 y 1826.
En rojo se debe catalogar de 1823 hasta 1839, fecha esta última que da Tizón, si bien, puede darse el caso de que no se utilizara en 1829 y 1830 y hay otros años donde debe ser muy rara.
El cuño se conoce en ambos colores en 1823 pero de forma esporádica y no es hasta mediados de agosto de 1824 que se empieza a utilizar de forma regular, quedando como único cuño en uso.
