[PE-1]. INÉDITA.
El siguiente archivo está formado por cartas fechadas en Segura, que sacaba su correo por Villarreal, y dirigidas a San Sebastián. La marca es similar a otras existentes en Mondragón, Vitoria, San Sebastián o Miranda, pero con las imágenes que yo tengo, veo leves diferencias.
Por ejemplo en la de San Sebastián, veo las “CAY” más unidas. En la de Vitoria, la “YA” más separada. A la que más se parece es a la de Miranda, pero es muy posterior.

Entendemos que hay que catalogarla como la nº 1 de Villarreal en rojo y desde el año 1.762 a 1.768, aunque me gustaría saber que opinan los estudiosos de la zona.

Traemos al final el siguiente archivo pues es donde nos encontramos la fecha más tardía, que amplía el uso de la marca en un año. La carta va seguramente de Azpeitia a Segura con fecha del 20 de febrero de 1809 y una impronta más que decente para lo que suele ser habitual.

La única que hemos encontrado está dentro de las fechas catalogadas.

PE-6. 1810 a 1814. Muy rara (RR).
Las fechas que propondremos para esta marca se divide en tres periodos distintos, que amplían y por mucho lo catalogado por Tizón.

Primer periodo desde 1807 al 21 de julio de 1814, dejando un hueco por detrás de una semana.
La realidad, es que durante gran parte del periodo de la Guerra de la Independencia, son muy pocas las cartas que tenemos y por ejemplo no tenemos ninguna de 1808 o 1813 (aunque en este año nos consta que existen).

Segundo periodo desde el 16 de septiembre de 1819 (con un hueco de menos de una semana) al 12 de diciembre de 1919 (último día de uso de este segundo periodo).
Tizón solo da algunas fechas exactas para el baeza de Madrid y muy puntualmente indica el mes, como creo recordar pasa en alguna marca de Galicia.
La fecha que damos como ultimo día de uso podría tener un error de un día más, y evidentemente no podemos asegurarlo al ciento por ciento, al no estar basado en ningún tipo de circular oficial, pero pensamos que las posibilidades de que sea correcta son altísimas.
En este caso, parece que el cuño lo tuvieron guardado en el cajón unos 5 años.
Creo que es la primera vez que podemos señalar un día concreto en la catalogación de marcas, en una fecha más temprana que los baezas.

Tercer periodo, catalogada solamente el 17 de noviembre de 1831. Ya veremos que esta fecha no parece casual. Llevaba nuevamente guardada en el cajón 12 años.

Conforme subimos los archivos, iremos insertando las imágenes de las fechas claves.

Por último, tenemos esta carta de Azpeitia a Irún fechada nada menos que el 17 de noviembre de 1831. Al ser en blanco y negro, no podemos definir el color, aunque en esas fechas se usaba la tinta negra.
Al principio pensamos en un posible error, pero ya veremos que coincide exactamente con las fechas de cambio entre la PE-7 y PE-8 en negro y volvieron a utilizarla de forma muy esporádicamente por algún motivo.

PE-7. 1815 a 1832.
En negro se cataloga durante todo el periodo como común (C).

Lo catalogado por Tizón se aproxima mucho a la realidad, pero con un importante matiz y es que realmente fueron tres periodos muy distintos, por lo que consideramos que se debe modificar.
Cuando Tizón da un periodo comprendido entre dos años, la sensación que da es que se utilizó de forma continuada durante esos años, pero como veremos, la realidad es muy distinta. En este caso debemos diferenciar tres periodos.

Primer periodo comprendido entre el 28 de julio de 1814, que adelanta un año lo indicado por Tizón, y el 10 de septiembre de 1819, donde se retira para proceder seguramente a una profunda limpieza y reparación que dura unos tres meses.
Con la PE-6 por delante solo tenemos un hueco de 6 días y de 5 días por detrás.

Segundo periodo comprendido entre el 13 de diciembre de 1819 y el 25 de enero de 1820. Entendemos que aquí se realiza una profunda limpieza y reparación y a pesar de ello, solo se usa después durante dos meses más.
No tenemos hueco con la PE-6 por delante, por lo que teóricamente, solo cabe que se usaran las dos marcas en el mismo día (el 12 o el 13). Por detrás el hueco es de 19 días con la PE8.

Al realizar la reparación, diríamos que posiblemente se retoquen o sustituyan algunas letras. Algo en la G, P, Z y C, pero sobre todo se nota en la R, donde anteriormente teníamos una pata alargada y ahora vemos una forma más recortada y curvada.
¿Esto es suficiente para considerarlo otro cuño? En mi opinión debería catalogarse como variante pues yo creo que se trata de una reparación del mismo cuño.

Tercer periodo. Tras tenerlo guardado en el cajón durante casi 12 años, se vuelve a usar entre el 17 de noviembre de 1831 y el 6 de julio de 1832, tras haber probado entre usar la PE-6 o esta.
Pienso que posiblemente por delante, sea realmente el primer día de uso y por detrás tenemos una laguna de 14 días.
Evidentemente hay parte de la historia en la que estamos elucubrando sobre lo que pudo suceder.

Al igual que hicimos con la anterior marca, iremos adjuntando las imágenes de las fechas claves conforme subimos los archivos.

Esta carta inicialmente la había catalogado con dudas como posiblemente de octubre (por el posible 8 inicial, aunque después no me cuadraba el terminar en “o”), pero a la vista del resto de cartas, entiendo que es de otro mes ¿podría ser enero?

Para que se pueda comprobar lo que indico al principio, adjunto dos imágenes de la marca, de lo que considero que es la variante. La inicial y tras la posible reparación. Como siempre, me gustaría conocer opiniones de si catalogarla como variante o nuevo cuño. Mi opinión es dejarla como variante.

También comentar que en el libro “El Señorío de Vizcaya” de los Hermanos Raya (bueno, mas que un libro, una magnifica enciclopedia en 2 tomos de nuestros socios), catalogan una nueva marca que es producto de eliminar la palabra “Guipúzcoa” de este cuño y que catalogan como única fecha conocida el 8 de febrero de 1832.
Como se puede comprobar en los listados anteriores, donde se adjuntan otras cartas de ese día y fechas cercanas, no se realizó dicha mutilación y solo es producto de una mala estampación, que se da bastante en esa zona, pero sin llegar a desaparecer.

Sobre la PE-7, cuando llegue el momento de catalogarla, la volveré a revisar y seguramente la dividamos en dos marcas distintas, como dice Ramko, que creo que lleva razón.

PE-8. 1820 a 1831.
Aunque apenas tenemos modificaciones, iremos señalando las cartas que nos marcan el inicio y final, pues podemos ajustar bastante las fechas de uso.

En rojo catalogada de 1820 a 1825 como rara (R).

La primera fecha de uso en rojo nos la encontramos en el siguiente archivo, en la página 121, en carta de Villafranca a Vitoria fechada el 14 de febrero de 1820. También tenemos otras, como se puede ver más arriba, del día 17 y 19.
La ultima fecha que tenemos de la PE 7 en negro es del 25 de enero, luego tenemos una laguna de solo unos 20 días.
El uso de este cuño, ya sea en rojo o negro, no se solapa con otros de origen.

Por último, tenemos la siguiente carta que se sale fuera de las fechas catalogadas.
Es una carta dirigida a Vergara en abril de 1827 y que después parece que usa el destinatario para contestar en mayo. Ninguno de los días se ve correctamente. La población de salida tampoco se aprecia, pero en la página 15 y siguientes tenemos otras cartas del mismo estilo y remitente, fechada en Azcoitia, aunque con el cuño en negro.
Pensamos que posiblemente fue un uso muy puntual y salvo opinión en contra, lo catalogaremos en dicha fecha de forma independiente.

Resumiendo, la última fecha que tenemos de la marca en rojo es 16 de marzo y la primera en negro de 1 de abril de 1825, aunque ambas son impresos y realmente pudieran ser de algún día después. Con todo, estamos hablando de una laguna de apenas 15 días.

Por lo que se refiera a la última fecha, la PE-8 en negro la tenemos fehacientemente hasta el 13 de noviembre de 1831 y ya vimos que el día 17 teníamos tanto la PE-6 como la PE-7, ambas en negro. Aquí da la sensación de que probaron ambas marcas para ver cual seguir utilizando, y se quedaron con la PE-7 (es el que definimos anteriormente como tercer periodo, aunque esto lo modificaremos).
Es decir, solo tenemos un hueco de 4 días.

PE-9. 1832 a 1842.
Alguna de las que catalogamos en negro o azul, realmente pudieran ser al revés, pues a veces es difícil distinguir un color del otro.

En negro se conoce solo en 1832 y 1833, como rara (R).
La ultima fecha de la anterior marca, recordamos que era el 6 de julio de 1832, con la PE-7 (que ya hemos comentado que renombraremos como nuevo tipo inédito).
El cambio a la PE-9 se produce en este mes de julio. La primera fecha que tenemos es del día 21, pero al ser un impreso, igual fue de algún día después. Con todo, tenemos otra carta del día 23 (que es la que pongo, por verse mas clara), es decir, la laguna es de apenas 15 días.

En azul nosotros la tenemos de octubre de 1832 a abril de 1833 y la sensación es que se usó indistintamente el negro o azul, y así tenemos varios días donde pensamos que coinciden los dos colores, aunque esto lo decimos con reservas por la problemática para distinguir los colores. Con todo, parece mucho más raro el azul.

En rojo se cataloga de 1833 a 1842 como común (C).

En esta marca se nota una importante disminución en el numero de cartas y por ejemplo no tenemos ninguna de 1835 y 1836 y solo una del año siguiente (con esta marca o cualquier otra). Esto seguramente se deba a la primera guerra carlista que tuvo lugar de finales de 1833 a mediados de 1840.
Aquí si tenemos una modificación de fechas que veremos al final.
La primera fecha que tenemos es de 2 de mayo de 1833.

Se adjuntan varias cartas de enero y febrero de 1843, por lo que la catalogación debe ampliarse a dicho año, siendo la última fecha que tenemos el 28 de febrero de 1843 (año no bisiesto).
Por delante nos extrañaría que pueda avanzar mucho la catalogación, pues supondría que se habrían mezclado los 3 colores y por detrás, en San Filatelio se da como primera fecha del fechador Baeza el 24 de marzo, luego, tenemos una laguna de poco más de 20 días.
